First Resume Checklist Before You Hit Apply

By MineResume7 min read

Content

  • Summary names a real job family, not “seeking opportunities.”
  • Every job has a title, employer, and dates.
  • Bullets start with verbs. At least some mention tools from the posting.
  • Skills do not list things you cannot discuss for five minutes.
  • No copied paragraphs from a sample resume on the internet.

File

  • PDF text is selectable (try highlighting your name).
  • File name: Firstname_Lastname_Resume.pdf
  • Links open. Email is spelled correctly.
  • Page count matches the posting (usually one page for freshers).

Process

Build in MineResume, preview on A4, export, then open the PDF on your phone. If a section overflows, cut bullets before you shrink the font. Starter templates are free; premium layouts are optional.

Walkthrough: using the builder. Common errors: mistakes that cost interviews.
